dc.description.abstractThe image irradiance equation is a first order partial differential equation. Part of this paper is a "comprehensive" guide to solving this kind of equation. The special structure of the image irradiance equation is explored in order to understand the relation of discontinuities in the surface properties and in the image intensities.en_US
